Man arrested for alleged threats against the President Cyril Ramaphosa appears in court today

After several threats made to the President, Cape Town Mayor and a business man, the 28-year-old suspect was arrested by the Hawks in Germiston on Friday, 23 May 2025.
Hawks spokesperson Thandi Mbambo, “The arrest on Friday, 23 May 2025, follows a case reported earlier this month. On Monday, 12 May 2025, a complainant, who is the Chief Executive Officer of a Cape Town-based company, allegedly received a voice message from the suspect, in which threats were made against the President of South Africa.
A swift investigation was conducted following the arrest of the suspect in Germiston.
The suspect is going to appear in Cape Town Magistrate’s Court today 25 May 2025.
Mbambo emphasized that this is not the first time this happens and stresses that such cases should be taken seriously and people should be held accountable because previously a Councilor in Knysna was gunned down after he received threats of the same nature.
