In a recent move aimed at strengthening local government, Free State Premier, Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae has promoted former Head of Department (HOD) for Health Masechaba Sesing into her office to head up the Local Government Monitoring and Co-ordination component a Deputy Director-General post.
Highly qualified with years of experience in provincial governance, Sesing is set to commence in her new role tomorrow (Monday, 30 June 2025).
However, her promoted to the premier’s office follows her recent court battle with the Public Service Commission (PSC), which found her guilty of misconduct during her time as HOD for Treasury. She further lost her challenge to overturn the report in the Bloemfontein High Court last week.
Sesing’s new role has raised optimism in some circles that the local government monitoring and coordination component in the office of the premier could soon prosper and benefit the entire province.
By championing female leadership and actively challenging the status quo, Premier’s move to promote Sesing is further recognised as not only breaking barriers but also paving the way for a more inclusive and dynamic leadership landscape, inspiring the next generation of women to rise with confidence and purpose.
